In this appointment your clinician will take a detailed medical history and gauge an understanding of why you are here. If they need to do any prior checks e.g regular doppler and monofilament checks for diabetics then this is expected in this appointment. Patients will usually book for this appointment for conditions such as:

This appointment will be with one of our MSK Specialist Podiatrists. Patients with conditions that are more associated with bone, muscle, tendon, ligament and walking that is causing pain will book this appointment. In this appointment, there will be a detailed medical history to understand your problem. Similar to the consultation, there will be a detailed medical history to understand your problem. The clinician will then do some tests and possibly some diagnostic ultrasound to accurately diagnose your condition. However, once we know what the problem is, we want to know why.
Next, the clinician and patient will go through a detailed assessment looking at joint range of motion, muscle strength and flexibility of all the tissues and joints from the big toe to the lower back and in-between.
We then want to see the patient walking and/or running to see how your mechanics transfers into movement. We tend to use slow motion video and pressure plate analysis for this.
This gives us a full comprehensive understanding of why the problem is there. It’s at this stage we create your own bespoke treatment programme and start treatment in the same appointment. Treatment can include orthotics (included in the cost), physiotherapy, shockwave, injection therapies, footwear advice etc etc.
